Deep Halfling

All halflings have a love for building their dwellings into the ground. Long ago, your ancestors took this passion to the next level and decided to spend their lives entirely beneath the surface. After many years, your people have adapted to their new environment, but they never lost the spark of joy that is present in all halflings. Unlike most species that make their home underground, Deep Halflings are still generally friendly creatures.

In particular, your people have learned to subsist on mushrooms and the other fungi that can be harvested in damp underground caverns. These fungi are a core part of the lives of all Deep Halflings, and your people have developed a symbiotic relationship with them. It is not uncommon to see Deep Halflings with small mushrooms or patches of moss growing on their gray skin, and some take pride in them in the same way that others might love a tattoo.

Traits

Superior Darkvision.

You have darkvision with a radius of 120 feet.

Underground Forager.

A life of searching underground caves for food has granted you proficiency in Survival checks. Eating that potentially-dubious food has granted you resistance to Poison damage.

Back to the Land.

If you die, harmless mushrooms sprout from your corpse and cover it completely. This effect starts 24 hours after your death and the mushrooms remain for up to one week or until they are removed. Once removed, they rapidly decay.

Abilities

Fungal Expert.

You know the Poison Spray cantrip. Additionally, you can also cast the Detect Poison and Disease spell and the Fungal Bloom spell with this ability, as if cast with a 1st-level spell slot. Once you use this ability to cast either spell, you can't use this ability to cast a spell again until you finish a long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Additionally, if you have a class feature that grants you the ability to cast spells, the spells granted by Fungal Expert are added to the spell list of that class.
